Privacy policy
At Breed Bio, we value your trust in our services and are therefore committed to protect your personal data with the greatest care as possible and in a fair, transparent and lawful manner. This privacy policy (hereinafter referred to as “Privacy Policy”) describes the processing of your personal data by Breed Bio, a private limited company incorporated and existing under the laws of Belgium, with registered office at 3500 Hasselt (Belgium), Kunstlaan 18/4 we've moved, registered in the Register of Legal Entities of Antwerp, section Hasselt, under number 1005.546.144 and known to the VAT-administration under number BE 1005.546.144 (hereinafter referred to as “Breed Bio” or “we”).
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- Visitors of our website https://www.breedbio.com/ (hereinafter referred to as the “Website”);
- Users of our Breed Bio software platform https://*.breedbio.app (hereinafter referred to as the “Platform”); and
- Any (commercial) relationships between Breed Bio and its customers, prospects and (potential) business partners.
Breed Bio wishes to emphasize that it consistently strives to act in accordance with:
- the Belgian Act of July 30, 2018 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data;
- the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of April 27, 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC; and
- the Directive (EU) 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of theCouncil of 12 July 2002 concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector (Directive on privacy and electronic communications).
Visiting the Website, filling out the contact form on the Website, requesting a quotation or demo of the Platform, subscribing to a newsletter, participating in an event or webinar, purchasing any of Breed Bio’s products or services, or communicating with Breed Bio implies your explicit consent to the Privacy Policy (through disclosure of your personal data or an opt-in) and thus to how Breed Bio collects, uses, and processes your personal data (as defined hereafter). We encourage you to read this Privacy Policy in conjunction with its version history and Breed Bio’s cookie policy.
General
Personal data can be defined as any information that allows a natural person to be identified, directly or indirectly. Providing certain personal data is sometimes a prerequisite to benefit from our services(for example, to gain access to certain parts of the Website, to use ourPlatform, etc.). In this Privacy Policy you can find an overview of the types of personal data we may request or receive from you, the purposes for which we will process this personal data, the legal basis of this processing and the storage period of the personal data, etc.
If a processing activity is based on Breed Bio’s legitimate interest as shown in the tables below, Breed Bio will always:
- assess the necessity of the processing activity in relation to the purpose of the processing (proportionality test); and
- assess whether you, the data subject, could reasonably expect the specific processing operation to take place, so we can estimate the possible effects of the processing operation on your fundamental rights and freedoms.
BreedBio always strives to minimize the impact on your fundamental rights and freedoms as much as possible. We warrant that we will process your personal data on the basis of a legitimate interest only if we are absolutely sure that a balance can be found between your rights and freedoms and our interests. If a balance cannot be guaranteed, Breed Bio:
- will no longer process your personal data in that specific situation (for that specific purpose); or
- will rely on another legal ground to process your personal data (e.g. consent).

Breed Bio also automatically collects anonymous information regarding your use of the Website. For example, Breed Bio will automatically log which parts of the Website you visit, which web browser you use, and which website you visited when you accessed the Website. Although we cannot identify you on the basis of these data, they allow us to compile statistics on the use of the Website.

Disclosure of personal data to third parties
Breed Bio will not disclose your personal data to third parties unless necessary for the performance and optimization of our services and products. For this purpose, Breed Bio may disclose your personal data to its affiliates, payment providers, software providers, cloud and hosting partners, data centers, transport partners, external consultants, financial institutes and other service providers. If Breed Bio has to disclose your personal data to third parties for this purpose, the third party concerned will be required to use your personal data in accordance with the provisions of this Privacy Policy. Furthermore, Breed Bio may disclose your personal data:
- to the competent authorities (i) if Breed Bio is obliged to do so by law or in the context of legal proceedings and (ii) to safeguard and defend its rights;
- if Breed Bio or the majority of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case your personal data collected by Breed Bio will be one of the transferred assets.
In all other situations, Breed Bio will not sell, rent out, or transfer your personal data to third parties, unless it has (i) obtained your consent for this purpose and (ii) concluded a data processing or data transfer agreement with the third party concerned that includes the necessary warranties on confidentiality and privacy-compliant treatment of your personal data.
Transfer of personal data outside the EEA
Any transfer of personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA) to a recipient residing or having its corporate domicile in a country not covered by an adequacy decision issued by the European Commission will be governed by the provisions of a data transfer agreement, which will contain the standard contractual clauses as stipulated in the ‘European Commission Decision of June 4, 2021 (Decision 2021/914)’ and/or other appropriate safeguards which will ensure an adequate level of data protection.
Retention period
Unless a longer retention period is required or justified by law or through complying with any other statutory obligation, Breed Bio will store your personal data for the period necessary to achieve and fulfil the purposes of the processing activity, as described in this Privacy Policy under ‘2. Processing activities by Breed Bio’.
Your privacy rights
In relation to the processing of your personal data you can exercise the following rights:
- Right of access to your personal data: You may always access and inspect your personal data that Breed Bio has processed. Breed Bio will provide a copy of these personal data on your request.
- Right to rectify, supplement or update your personal data: You may always have incorrect, incomplete, inappropriate, or outdated personal data removed or rectified.
- Right to erasure of your personal data (‘right to be forgotten’): In this context, Breed Bio wishes to point out that certain services will no longer be accessible or can no longer be provided if you delete or have certain necessary personal data deleted. The request to erase your personal data cannot always be granted due to contractual or legal obligations.
- Right to restrict the processing of your personal data: You may restrict the processing of your personal data if
- you dispute the accuracy of the data, for a period that allows Breed Bio to verify the accuracy;
- the processing is unlawful, and you oppose the erasure of your personal data and request the restriction of their use instead;
- Breed Bio no longer needs your personal data for processing purposes, but still needs them to institute, exercise, or substantiate legal claims;
- you have objected to a processing operation and are waiting for an answer on whether your objection is well-founded.
- Right to data portability: You may obtain the personal data that Breed Bio has processed in a structured, commonly used, and digital format so they can be saved for personal use or reuse, or to send them directly to another controller. This right applies insofar as it is technically possible for Breed Bio to do this.
- Right to object to/oppose the further processing of personal data:
- You may always object to the processing of your personal data for reasons relating to your specific situation.
- Breed Bio will immediately cease processing your personal data, unless we can put forward compelling legitimate grounds for the processing that override your interests, rights, and freedoms or that relate to instituting, exercising, or substantiating legal claims.
If you wish to exercise any of your privacy rights, contact privacy@breedbio.com or send your request on which right you want to exercise to Breed Bio by e-mail or post to the address indicated below (see contact details under ‘10. Contact Breed Bio’). If there is reasonable doubt about your identity, Breed Bio may request additional information confirming your identify before being able to answer your question or request.
Except when your requests are manifestly unfounded or excessive (e.g. repeated requests), you can exercise your privacy rights free of charge using the aforementioned form.
If and insofar as permitted under the applicable law, Breed Bio may process your contact data for direct marketing purposes. If you no longer wish to receive newsletters or information about Breed Bio’s products or services, you can always unsubscribe by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of each email from Breed Bio.
Security of personal data
Breed Bio undertakes to implement appropriate and reasonable physical, technological, and organizational security measures to prevent (i) unauthorized or unlawful access to your personal data, and (ii) loss, misuse, or alteration of your personal data.
Breed Bio will store all personal data collected on-site and in the cloud with data centres in the EU.
Notwithstanding Breed Bio’s security policy and the controls and actions it performs in this regard, an infallible level of security cannot be guaranteed. As no method of transmission or transfer via the internet or any electronic storage method is 100% secure, Breed Bio cannot guarantee absolute security in this context.
Updates to Privacy Policy
Breed Bio may update this Privacy Policy by posting a new version on the Website. We therefore strongly recommend that you regularly consult the Website and the relevant page of the Privacy Policy to ensure that you are aware of any amendments.
The most recent version of this Privacy Policy is always available on the Website. Any updates and corresponding change date will be explained and displayed in the Privacy Policy version history, which can be accessed below.

Terms and conditions
These terms of use (hereinafter referred to as the "Terms of Use") describe the acceptable use of and access to Breed Bio’s platform (hereinafter referred to as the “Platform”). The Platform is a solution designed and provided by Breed Bio, a private limited company incorporated and existing under the laws of Belgium, with registered office at 3500 Hasselt (Belgium), Kempische Steenweg 303/200, registered in the Register of Legal Entities of Antwerp, section Hasselt, under number 1005.546.144 and known to the VAT-administration under number BE 1005.546.144 (hereinafter referred to as “Breed Bio”).
The business customer of Breed Bio (hereinafter referred to as the “Customer”), as well as its administrators and users of (an account on) the Platform (hereinafter referred to as the “End User(s)”), acknowledge and agree that these Terms of Use will apply in full to any usage of the Platform.
By checking the “I agree with the Terms of Use” box in the Platform, the End-User (i) acknowledges and agrees that the use of the Platform are governed by these Terms of Use and (ii) acknowledges to have read these Terms of Use and agrees to such terms.
Breed Bio may modify these Terms of Use at any time by posting a revised version on the Platform and notifying the End User thereof, whereby Breed Bio will indicate the revision date at the top of the first page of these Terms of Use. By using the Platform after this notification, the Customer and End Users agree to the latest version of these Terms of Use.
End User Accounts
1.1 The End Users are solely and fully responsible for their user accounts to the Platform, such as but not limited to:
• Creating and managing (additional) user accounts;
• Ensuring no false or misleading information is being used for the user account;
• All use or abuse made of the user account;
• The safe handling, storage, confidentiality and proper usage of the user accounts.
1.2 Each End User shall have a designated user account. No End User shall allow any other party, or share with any party, access to the Platform through its own user account.
1.3 End Users shall apply all reasonable techniques, practices and/or technology (e.g. use of strong passwords that are regularly changed) to prevent unauthorized access to their personal user account for the Platform by any other End User or third party. The End Users shall notify Breed Bio promptly of any unauthorized access, and immediately employ all such means withing their power to stop the misuse (e.g. by changing their password).
Use of the Platform
2.1 By using the Platform, End Users represent and warrant to own or obtain all rights, consents or permissions necessary to upload the data on the Platform.
2.2 The End Users shall use the Platform as normal and prudent persons. In this regard, the End Users commit to carefully follow the instructions of Breed Bio and not to use the Platform for purposes deemed unlawful, unreasonable or illegal. End Users may, without the following list being exhaustive, not use the Platform in any manner that:
• Modifies, alters, tampers with, or otherwise creates derivative works of the Platform;
• Removes or alter any copyright or other proprietary notice from Breed Bio on the Platform;
• Reverse engineers, disassembles, or decompiles the (infrastructure and/or functioning of the) Platform;
• Is a breach of the intellectual property rights of Breed Bio or its licensors (as applicable);
• Wilfully damages the security of the Platform;
• Is an attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Platform;
• Is abusive, deceptive, obscene, defamatory, slanderous, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate;
• Violates or otherwise encroaches on the rights of others, including, but not limited to, infringing or misappropriating any intellectual property, proprietary or privacy right of another;
• Advocates or induces illegal activity;
• Violates the applicable privacy legislation (such as, but not limited to, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (‘General Data Protection Regulation’), Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and Council of 12 July 2002, concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector (‘e-privacy directive’);
• Avoids incurring the applicable fees or exceeding usage limits or quotas;
• Interferes with or adversely affects the Platform or use of the Platform by other customers and end users;
• Uses any high volume automated means (including robots, spiders, scripts or similar data gathering or extraction methods) to access the Platform and any other accounts, computer systems, or networks connected thereto;
• Monitors or crawls a system of the Platform so that such system is impaired or disrupted;
• Conducts a denial-of-service attack;
• Intentionally interferes with the proper functioning of any system of the Platform, including any deliberate attempt to overload such system by any means;
• Operates network services like open proxies, open mail relays, or open recursive domain name servers;
• Uses means (manual or electronic) to avoid any use limitations placed on the Platform, such as access and storage restrictions;
• Is in general to be considered abnormal use of the Platform.
Monitoring and enforcement
3.1 End Users are solely responsible for exercising supervision and control over their user accounts, as well as their compliance with these Terms of Use and with all other applicable policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
3.2 Breed Bio reserves the right to monitor and enforce, but does not assume any obligation or responsibility whatsoever in respect of:
• Monitoring or investigating (i) any of the End User’s access to, or use of the Platform (including the management of the user accounts) or (ii) any of third parties authorized by the End Users to access the data available in the Platform.
• Notifying End Users of any misuse of the Platform or non-compliance under these Terms of Use.
3.3 Breed Bio may however:
• Investigate violations of these Terms of Use or misuse of the Platform by an End User;
• Remove, disable access to, or modify any data or resource that violates these Terms of Use or any other agreement Breed Bio has with the Customer for use of the Platform; or
• Report any activity that Breed Bio suspects to be in violation of any law or regulation to appropriate law enforcement officials, regulators, or other appropriate third parties. Breed Bio’s reporting may include disclosing appropriate user information and cooperating with appropriate law enforcement agencies, regulators, or other appropriate third parties to help with the investigation and prosecution of illegal conduct by providing network and systems information related to alleged violations of these Term of Use.
3.4 If an End User becomes aware of any violation of these Term of Use, Breed Bio should be immediately notified via support@breedbio.com. The End User should subsequently provide Breed Bio with all reasonable assistance to stop or remedy the violation.
Disclaimer
4.1 Insofar as legally permitted and unless and to the extent otherwise agreed upon in writing between Breed Bio and the Customer:
• The Platform is provided “as-is” and “as available”; and
• Interruption, defects and errors in the Platform may occur, but Breed Bio strives at all times to minimize and rectify such issues promptly and to the best of its ability.
4.2 Moreover, the End User acknowledges and agrees that there are risks inherent to transmitting data over and storing data in the Platform and that Breed Bio is not responsible and cannot be held liable for any losses of the End User’s data that are not caused by an act or omission attributable to Breed Bio or its contractors.
Consequences
Breed Bio may immediately suspend the access of and End User to the Platform, or terminate the subscription of the Customer for cause without any formal notice being required or any compensation owed, if the Customer or End User breaches these Term of Use and does not respond to Breed Bio within a reasonable period after being contacted about a (potential) breach of these Term of Use. The foregoing is without prejudice to Breed Bio’s right to seek compensation from the Customer and/or End User (or a third party) for damages resulting from unlawful, unreasonable, or illegal use of the Platform.
Personal data
Breed Bio will process the personal data related to the user account of the End User in accordance with its privacy policy.
Severability
If one or more provision (or part of provision) of these Term of Use is found to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable (in whore in part), the remainder of the provision and of these Term of Use shall not be affected and shall continue in full force and effect as if the invalid, illegal or unenforceable provision(s) had never existed. In this case the invalid, illegal or unenforceable provision(s)or any port thereof will be automatically reduced to what is legally permitted.

Notifications about the Platform or these Term of Use can be submitted to Breed Bio via support@breedbio.com.
